How old is your Casselberry pool cage?
The median Casselberry house was built in 1980. Your enclosure's fastener condition, spline groove wear and frame finish all track the year the house went up — and Casselberry's verified build eras run from 1946 in Lake Kathryn Park to 2014 in Legacy Park, all inside one 7.51-square-mile city. Find your neighborhood below to know what a screener will find.
Seventy years of housing in seven and a half square miles
Every bar below is a documented build-year range for a real Casselberry subdivision. The rust bars finished before the city-wide 1980 median.

What the build year actually changes on a rescreen
Not the mesh. The mesh is the same product regardless of how old the frame is. What changes is everything holding the mesh on.
Fasteners
Screen channel is held to the frame with self-tapping screws. Every year those spend in Florida humidity, in aluminium, is a year closer to seizing. On a cage from the 1970s a meaningful share of them will strip or shear when they come out, and that is work — drilling, re-tapping, sometimes moving to a slightly larger fastener. It should be in the quote, not discovered in the middle of the job.
Spline and spline groove
Spline is the rubber cord that wedges the mesh into the channel. Old spline goes hard and comes out in fragments rather than in one length, and the groove underneath it fills with the remains of every previous rescreen. Cleaning that groove properly is what separates a rescreen that holds tension from one that ripples in a year.
Whether it has been done before
A forty-five-year-old cage has usually been rescreened at least once. How well that was done is the biggest unknown on any old Casselberry frame: an over-driven spline can widen the groove permanently, and a channel that has been chewed up will not hold new mesh at the same tension. This is the thing I most want to look at before quoting.
Frame finish
Chalked, oxidised aluminium is cosmetic on its own, but it tells you how much direct sun that elevation takes, which is a reasonable proxy for how hard the mesh on that wall has been working. It is also the reason people bundle a cage repaint with a rescreen — the labour of getting to every panel is already being spent.
What this page deliberately does not claim
I have not published a table of which aluminium extrusion profiles, wall gauges or spline groove sizes were common in which years, because I could not source one that stands up. Plenty of sites will tell you confidently. Until that exists, the honest answer is that I measure the groove on site rather than guessing it from your build year.

A cage problem specific to one subdivision
The Deer Run Country Club golf course closed on Memorial Day 2019.
Roughly a hundred acres of the former course, inside the 1,038.30-acre Deer Run planned development, have sat undeveloped since, subject to an ongoing rezoning dispute. The PD requires a minimum of 259.57 acres of open or green space.
For a homeowner that is a property-value and land-use story. For a screen enclosure it is a maintenance story: a cage that used to back onto mown fairway now backs onto unmaintained land. More windborne debris against the panels, more vegetation growing into contact with the frame, and more animal traffic against the lower walls. If your cage fronts the old course, the lower panels are worth looking at on a different schedule from the rest of the enclosure.
Deer Run is also the subdivision where the jurisdiction question bites hardest — portions of it are in unincorporated Seminole County and in Winter Springs, so two houses on the same street can have different building departments.

Sausalito and Legacy Park also get their own page
Sausalito
Built 1973–1982. South Casselberry's waterfront HOA community, and the strongest case in the city for a mixed mesh spec by wall.
Legacy Park
Built 2006–2014 by Pulte and Centex. The newest large tract, and the one neighborhood where the "seized fasteners" argument on this site mostly does not apply.
Lifespan questions
Wording taken verbatim from live Google autocomplete for these searches, lowercase exactly as returned. Paraphrasing them would defeat the point.
how long do pool cage screens last in florida
I am not going to print a number I cannot source. What is worth more than a number is the test: push the middle of a panel with a flat palm. Mesh near the end of its life gives further than it should and does not spring back cleanly, and it will tear at the spline line rather than in the middle, because that is where it has been under constant tension. Chalky residue on your hand from the frame tells you how much direct sun that elevation takes. Screen fails from UV and abrasion, not on a schedule.
how long does a pool cage last in florida
The frame long outlives the mesh. What ages out first on a Casselberry cage is the hardware: self-tapping screws seized or sheared in the aluminium, spline gone brittle, and spline grooves widened by previous rescreens. The median Casselberry house was built in 1980, so a great many cages here are on their second or third mesh with the original frame and, often, the original fasteners. A frame that is straight, square and properly anchored is worth rescreening. One that is not is a different conversation and a different permit.
